Good food, but far to many drawbacks to recommend this place
I am a local to Caffe Etc. and after a year of going there, out of convenience, today I had enough. Honestly, if there was any other decent cafe within walking distance, I'd be going there instead. (Karma Cafe is across the street but the place seems a little too grimy inside for me to feel good about ordering anything other than coffee). The reviewer that said "owner has an attitude" is absolutely correct. I think she's actually the manager, not the owner, but regardless - that woman is SO RUDE. All the guys who work there are really sweet, but most of the girls act like they are doing the customers HUGE favors by being there. I worked in a coffee shop for over 2 years so I know it can be frustrating. But when I'm paying for ridiculously overpriced drinks, the last thing I want is some wannabe diva making me feel like I'm asking the world of her by order an f-ing latte. Moreover, their drinks aren't even good. Regular lattes are either weak and tasteless or far too bitter. Their idea of iced coffee is pouring scalding hot coffee over a cup of ice, to produce a lukewarm bucket of coffee flavored water. They blend 10oz. of OJ from a gallon jug with a scoop of ice and a teaspoon of vanilla powder, charge $4.50 and call it an "orange sorbet smoothie". Their actual meals are good, I'll give them that, but SO OVERPRICED! A lot of their meals only provide half a plateful of food but cost $10+ (and leave me still hungry and I'm a pretty small person). When their soups are good, they're really good, but it's so h it or miss that sometimes, much like the ice coffee, I receive a bowl of food flavored water. And don't try asking for a certain specification on your food - you won't get it because I don't think the chef even cares.
