"The Cat" Catamaran Hotel is one of the best resort hotels in San Diego. It's right across from the beach. Approximately 100 steps. The resort is built into it's own rain forest of sorts with streams populated with exotic fish and birds. The resort sits on Mission bay with amazing views. I've had friends and family stay here and they all enjoyed it. I've had business events here and attended quite a few as well. They also have a spa, great pool and beach rentals; bikes, boards, sailboats, jetskis and motorboats. In the summertime they have a nighly luau right around sunset complete with fire dancers. They have an amazing Sunday brunch with free flowing champagne that is always a great time. Overall awesome San Diego resort, spa, restaurants and BRUNCH! :)

Steve and I just stayed at this resort in lovely San Diego. Our room was upgraded from the garden room to the tower suite. The room was an apartment: two decks, a kitchen, living room, large bathroom, bedroom, and closet. The sixth floor suite overlooked the bay and the ocean. The staff was wonderful and the hotel stay was luxurious. I highly recommend this hotel.

I have lived in San Diego for years and have never been to the Catamaran Resort until yesterday. Now that I have been invited I am going to take advantage of the tropical surroundings, parrots, ocean, wine tasting etc... Why not feel like you are on vacation when it is right in your backyard. Definitely try the ahi appitizer and coconut cheesecake.

I love the Catamaran and have since I first went to it years ago. It is a great place to relax and spend a few nights. The food is great, the spa is great; there isn't one thing I would complain about.

The area around the hotel is beautiful but I am more of a horticulture and animal fan so the plants and the birds were the best part of my visit. Besides having your traditional parrots or Macaws to entertain guests the hotel also hosts a huge collection of waterfowl such as; wood ducks, mandarins, ring teals, widgeon, Bahama pintail, black swans and provides a habitat of lush tropical plants like unusual palm trees and things like a huge aloe bainesii. The best time of year to visit is March through June when all their ducklings hatch. The birds we met while there were all very tame so you could walk right up to see them.
