My husband and I were initially referred to Dr. Thomas Kim by our Ob/Gyn (also incredible -- delivered more than 3000 babies in the last 30 years, missing only two deliveries), after every imaginable test showed nothing wrong. Dr. Kim came highly recommended as a doctor's doctor, a researcher, rather than a businessman.
We interviewed 6 other Reproductive Endos in the Santa Monica/West L.A. area, all highly reputable. The six others had well honed and rather good selling pitches. But none inspired trust.
My husband and I are both lawyers, who do our homework. I spent a lot of time researching and reading medical journals. Dr. Kim was not only remarkably knowledgable, but amazingly receptive to our questions. He's also a lot more willing to discuss and back up his medical opinions with actual research papers. None of the other doctors was nearly as receptive to our cross examinations, and certainly, none was as forthcoming when he or she didn't have an answer. If Dr. Kim didn't have an answer, or wasn't sure, he'd do the research and call us back. We trust Dr. Kim as we've never trusted another professional.
The 6 other Reproductive Endos' offices also felt like a mill. From the first impression, which is the waiting room, I felt cramped and crowded. For the money these others were charging, you'd think they'd invest in a comfortable environment. Additionally, the staff were typically indifferent at best. Being squeezed in w/others in the waiting rooms does not allow one to relax during a very stressful period.
In contrast, the environment at Dr. Kim's CHA center is worth noting. It's very large, comfortable with overs
