This motel is the best if you want some place inexpensive, close to the beach, and in walking distance to some shops/restaurants on the 101 stretch between Encinitas and Leucadia Blvd.

It's very clean and they have a nice continental breakfast that is your standard coffee, juice, muffins, and cereal.

The people that own the hotel are around a lot and are very helpful in accommodating you.

My family stayed at this lodge on a trip to Legoland. It was a very short drive to Legoland and the room was as expected. The kids liked the few block walk to the beach every morning. My youngest is a train fan. It is right across from the train tracks. We were never bothered by the noise of the passing trains, just by my son running to the window to see! The walls are quite thin, so if you have a family, expect your neighbors to complain!! Took about 15mins after checking for our neighbors to call the front desk... The breakfast consists of a pitcher of an orange drink, coffee, apples, and mini muffins from costco.
