Oldest & *Best* Mexican Restaurant In San Diego!
El Indio is San Diego's oldest and best mexican restaurant. It's a local fav and great for tourists too. The are famous for inventing Taquitos and they make their own fresh tortillas from scratch every single day. The restaurant founders made the first tortilla machines. They know how to make Tortillas and from that chips which are second to none. I highly recommend their Enchiladas,& Taquitos. They make great Margaritas and they also do catering. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Crave it
We have a lot of great, fast Mexican food in town. El Indio is on a different level. Granted, parking can be a hassle if their little parking lot across the street is full. And there can be a line out the door that moves slowly on occasion. And there can be no place to sit inside so bring a sweater.

All that aside, the food is worth it. Takeaway is worth it too, but it's just not as good as it is when you can eat it at the restaurant. I don't normally order this but their chili relleno is insane. Guy Fieri ordered it on Diners Drive Ins and Dives, I believe. Carnitas are fab. The flour tortillas are what make the burritos so awesome, in my opinion. Pick up a stack to go when you're there.

The price is right. I took my mom, dad and family of 3 there for under $40.

Love the tortillas
El Indio has pretty much the same type of food that you'll find in any other taco shop. But for me one of the attractions is their tortilla making machine, so all the tortillas the use are freshly made and that makes all the difference.

In spite of the area, they have convenient private parking and you can eat inside the restaurant or or on their tables outside and enjoy the sunshine.

Clasic San Diego
I had to go to El Indio after seeing it featured on TV. I was impressed by the ambience, and the speed of service considering the amount of people there. In general its kind of like a glorified taco shop but its decent food, can't really complain and its cheap I wouldn't go there for the most legit mexican food in San Diego but for a good meal at a pretty cool place its totally worth it. The corn tortillas are really good so they get a few extra stars for that, and the taquitos are definitely a must try they were by far my favorite part of the meal.
