I've spent a lot of time at the Estancia because my sister in law got married there. It's a great location for a wedding and the staff was so incredibly helpful and genuinely nice.

I love the organic margarita at Mustang and Burros bar/restaurant. And if you play foursquare, as of this writing, you can get a free pitcher of sangria on your second check in. They put on an amazing post wedding breakfast here with a breakfast buffet of huevos rancheros to bagels and lox. Yum.

I've also been to the spa for a manicure and pedicure. You definitely need to make an appt. It's very nice and they did a fantastic job. Expect to pay hotel spa prices though.

My family also was able to score a really insane rate on Jetsetter.com (I think about $140) so I look forward to visiting the Estancia again later this summer.

Since I am an event coordinator in San Diego, one of the questions my clients ask me is which hotel I prefer to host events. Estancia is the answer! The atmosphere is welcoming, calming, service impeccible, and the food to die for. If you are able spend a night in their rooms and treat yourself to a spa day. Erica Hinshaw, Senior Catering Manager, is the reason my relationship started with Estancia and her staff backs up her enthusiasm and professionalism. If you need anything they make it happen with ease and a smile.

My BF surprised me with a little mini vacation and booked our stay here. The room was big and beautifully decorated. The gardens were beautiful and the pool area was nice and relaxing although crowded. Short walk behind the hotel puts you right on the beach (after descending a lot of stairs!) with great views of the sunset.

Even though the resort is elegantly appointed, it didn't make up for the spa service. Having been to several DH&R resorts, this one left me lacking - which it shouldn't have, considering the price and location. The spa locker room was a mess, slippers were mismatched with the incorrect size, two left shoes, etc. and even though my group of girls were to receive the same spa service, we all had completely different experiences. Maybe we were just there on one of their bad days . . .

Sorely dissapointed after being greeted by the construction mess and unfriendly service. Watch out for the hotel resort fee unmentioned on the web site or by the staff. Hopefully this place will be better after the construction is complete in May....
