The Waffle Spot - DON'T MISS
I can't say anything about the hotel itself as I've never stayed there but we hit the Waffle Spot at the hotel at LEAST once a month. It is hands down, the best place on earth to recover from a big night on the town. They keep the coffee coming and the food is just what the doctor ordered! We also have one or two really priceless photos of ourselves with the Waffle Spot mascot. (Sir Wafflelot?) There is even Mexican fare on the menu if that's your thing. But the menu item not to be missed is Waffles Ranchero. They haven't invented a hangover that this can't cure!

personal favorite
I stayed at this hotel when I had to stay away from home for fumigation. That was when I had my first OB doctor appointment with my first son. I just remember how excited we were and just adds sentimental value to it. It had nice swimming pool too.

Live like a king, pay like a pauper
Drove into San Diego on a whim and found this place on I-8. I chose it because of the cool sign. It was a bit retro and I like retro.

The lobby was very throwback but the agent was professional and I got a great rate. Also got discounts to both of the hotel's restaurants. She gave me an upgrade to a poolside room.

Parking was easy. Pool looked inviting. The room, well, still working on older bedspreads and curtains, but was fine. The bathroom and TV are both a little small, but I didn't spend much time with either of them.

Free appetizers during Happy Hour and good margaritas were a plus. And in the morning I ate a bacon waffle at The Waffle Spot. Tasty! And the cartoon characters of Breakfast foods were hilarious.

Definitely a good value and for those of us who don't want a cookie cutter experience. This place is a good find.

A Dump.
This place was a total dump. Our room was musty and smelled of mold. The carpet was damp, presumably with mold or some sort of water damage, causing the smell. We shook out a centipede out of the bed, there were earwigs crawling all around. The only good thing I can say about the place is that the hot tub was nice, that's about it. Spend an extra 20 bucks a night and go stay somewhere nice. This place should be called "Bums Inn" not Kings Inn.
