OMG, worth seeking out
The Tabe BBQ truck was at an event in La Jolla a few weeks ago. I've been meaning to try it as I see people on Twitter chasing the truck down for burritos and Tabe often tweeting that they are sold out.

I totally get it now. It was 10am and there were people lined up at the truck. They don't serve breakfast. And people were joking that this was their second breakfast because how can you not order this fabulousness.

I got a beef burrito to go and even after I wrapped up what I was doing and got it home, it didn't have the normal sog that others might get after that amount of time. It was insanely good. The ingredients were super fresh and flavorful. Even my husband who is addicted to Roberto's, etc. thought it was awesome.

I believe I paid around $6 which is great value for what you get. So if you hear the truck is nearby, go.

Gourmet food from a truck
Tabe is one of the gourmet food trucks that have gotten so much publicity lately. The first of these I think was Kogi in Los Angeles, which I have never tasted, but which is world famous. I have heard from people who have tried both that Tabe is almost as good. Their specialty is Korean Barbeque tacos. They serve beef, chicken, and pork. My favorite is the pork. It is nice and tangy. The beef is pretty good, but tastes a little too much like carne asada to me. There are a couple of flavors of hot sauce that you can choose, including a very spicy one. I’d suggest tasting the hot sauce first before dosing your taco. The prices are very reasonable - $2.75 for a taco. I usually eat three. I highly recommend Tabe if they stop in your neighborhood.

Keep on truckin', TABE!
Tabe, what can I say. I used to chase the Kogi truck down in LA with my friends and without success. I’ve never had it. But now that’s all in the past, because Chef Todd and the Tabe crew have won me over. This is where you would go if you wanted a trendy Asian-Fusion delight! Their “Tabe Asada Fries” use marinated Korean beef instead of the regular “carne,” but is complete with the fries, sour cream, special sauce and cheese… you can watch them do the finishing touch of melting the cheese! But in actuality, I would go here more for what they’re known for—the tacos. My favorites are the BBQ Beef or Beer-Battered Fish Tacos. The way that they garnish the tacos, you can tell this stuff is gourmet for sure. It’s about the presentation and the way that the different tastes combine and complement each other with the salsa. They have different sauces you can mix or use alone with what you get. After I get a taco, I crave it the next day, so that’s gotta say something. GO TABE!!!

Gourmet truck food
Amazing food can come from a truck! Their delicious tacos, colorful salsas, and gigantic asada fries are filling, but won't leave you feeling gross afterward. The staff are all super friendly and inviting. It's a one of kind thing here in San Diego and I hope San Diego continues to support them and eat these amazing gourmet, Asian fusion blends!

A leader in San Diego Food trucks
While Tabe BBQ is necessarily the first in the food truck trend, they are certainly among the best.

Along the lines of the famed Kogi BBQ trucks in Los Angeles, Tabe BBQ's food is certainly along those lines in terms of price and quality. Lead by Chef Todd Ichinaga, Tabe offers tacos, burritos and loaded fries with an Asian flair whether your choice is chicken, beef, fish or pork.

All the ingredients are freshly made including their refreshing salsas.

Tabe BBQ can be found roaming the streets of San Diego or at their storefront on Murphy Canyon Rd. tucked inside a gas station. Don't let the location fool you. When you get a hankering for their tacos, you'll be thankful you don't have to go searching for their truck.
