Delicious dining in Tibet without leaving L.A.!
My friend took me across the street from our office for lunch and this place is now one of my all time favorite dining spots. One of L.A.'s best kept secret lunch eateries in Culver City! No need to get in your car and fight for parking in downtown Culver City, when you can simply walk across Venice Blvd if you are anywhere the Culver Center Shopping area. The food was tasty and very well prepared. Everything looked and tasted fresh and savory. We had the egglplant curry that the ladies next to us were raving about and told us that we had to order it! The rice was light and fluffy, the naan bread was thin and light and the service was warm and friendly. I felt like I had just had a wonderful meal and great conversation with a friend in her home. Tara's smile is refreshing and contagious. We are celebrating our annual company Thanksgiving Luncheon with Tara as she is preparing a special turkey dish for the holiday. In addition, 10% of her profits to back to her village to help her relatives back home. I love LA, Himalayan food within walking distance!

A great addition to the west side!
Located on Venice Blvd between Westwood & Overland, Tara's serves Himalayan (Nepali, Indian and Tibetan food). I've only been once but plan to return within a week. We went for the lunch special on a Sat. - good-sized portions. I got the Nepali and my wife got the Tibetan. Both vegi - they were excellent and large-portions (pooling our leftovers, I had lunch for Monday). I had the vegi Momos - very good with the sauce (I'd never had them) and my wife had the vegi of the day - delish! One of the meals came with hot flat bread (like a naan bread). We also got a side of Samosas (the best I've had in town), two hot teas (which were awesome + unlimited refills), and dessert (rice pudding - very flavorful) -- and the bill was under $20. Dinner prices look very reasonable as well & we intend to return and maybe try one of the Indian dishes as well. The place is simple and cute, not fancy. Street parking & parking behind. It's the kinda place out of which you will not be rushed. Great service. When filling the waters, the hostess noticed a tiny speck on my glass and quickly replaced it. In sum, great food & service, can't-beat prices, no hassles. We'll be back!

Kinda Bland
With it's mix of Indian and Chinese influences, this Himalayan restaurant tries it's hardest to put everything on the menu, but fails to deliver a comparable rich taste as it's bordering countries' cuisines. Having been to Nepal, I do appreciate that the native food there is not as intensely spiced as Indian, but nevertheless expected a bit more salt, pepper and spice from this place.
The atmosphere is cozy, the service slow but friendly and you can't beat the cheap prices, but if you're looking for flavour, go elsewhere. If however you are in the mood for less intense Indian type dishes, this might be the place for you. The Nepali tea is delicious (if also, less potent than Indian Chai).

Delicious by Manuel T. at InsiderPages
This is great affordable place to have lunch or dinner. The owner is such a great host and knows how to take care of her customers. I ordered some white rice, lentils and veggie pot stickers; everything was delicious. I would definitely keep on going. They deliver too.
